Why can’t I find a direct route for my train?
Have you been searching for a certain route e.g. Paris to Bayeux, yet there are no direct trains available for your travel dates? In some cases, there might even be direct trains available on other days, but not the one you are looking for?
This is due to the schedule allocation determined by the rail carrier. On some days there might be a direct TGV connection, whilst on other days there are only regional TER trains available which include transfers. The rail carriers usually choose to allocate high-speed TGV routes only if the route is popular enough to have the train at capacity. So unfortunately there isn’t anything that can be done if there are no direct trains available on a certain date. It could also mean that there are track works, so there are fewer services running and some are diverted through other stations.
